# Database Migration MariaDB to PostgreSQL

Since there are Rumors Mattermost is dropping MariaDB Support I would like to  
migrate my MariaDB Mattermost installations to PostgreSQL. I have read some old Articles about, but there is no official procedure…

Or did I miss something? Anyone has done this recently?

I haven’t done that and it might be complicated depending on the amount of data in your database (extensions, etc.).

But newer versions support an `export` and `import` task using the command line utility `mmctl`, which basically dumps all the information into a JSONL format and therefore supports cross-database transfers.

Worth a try, I think.
