# How to know when others react with emoji

Hi @wxue1011, welcome to Mattermost! Emoji reactions appear beneath your messages, but the documented [notification options](https://docs.mattermost.com/end-user-guide/preferences/manage-your-notifications) don’t include alerts for reactions, so you may need to revisit the message to check for them.
