We would like to install Mattermost Team Edition v6.3.9. Our legal department won’t approve the installation because of the following found in …/mattermost-server-6.3.9/vendor/github.com/splitio/go-client/v6/splitio/engine/hash/murmur.go, particularly the last sentence:

// Murmur calculates the bucket for the key and seed provided using the legacy algorithm
// © Copyright 2014 Lawrence E. Bakst All Rights Reserved
// THIS SOURCE CODE IS THE PROPRIETARY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND CONFIDENTIAL
// INFORMATION OF LAWRENCE E. BAKST AND IS PROTECTED UNDER U.S. AND
// INTERNATIONAL LAW. ANY USE OF THIS SOURCE CODE WITHOUT THE
// AUTHORIZATION OF LAWRENCE E. BAKST IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

Has Mr. Bakst provided authorization? If not, can the splitio package somehow be removed from Mattemost Team Edition?

Hi lauraSYR and welcome to the Mattermost forums!

I’ve forwarded your question to the right people to be answered ASAP, please stay tuned.

Hi Alexander,

Has there been any activity on my question? Thank you!

Hi @lauraSYR our team reached out the developers at Split.io and let them know this is an issue. They promised to replace this package with something else, but have not been able to provide us with a timeline yet. Once we have more info, we’ll share it here.

@lauraSYR We have merged a fix to remove the code you referenced. The change will either come out in 7.3 or 7.4 of Mattermost depending on whether or not our release team can get it ready in the next week. You can check this PR for more info.

That’s wonderful, thank you!! Will this be backported to any of the ESR versions?
