# Newbie wanting to know basic setup

Hi guys,

I’m new to mattermost and not very tech-savy. Please excuse my complete ignorance, and thank you for your time in advance.

I am using Windows 10. I downloaded the native app for windows.

It asks me for a URL when I create a team, but I don’t know what to put there. Would you please assist?

Hi,

ok so you installed the **client** on Windows.  
On which kind of system did you install the **server** and whats its Domain Name?

I don’t know. That’s the thing, I have no clue about servers or anything. could you please explain to me how it works and give me some pointers?
