# Not able to attach pictures in Mattermost

For the last few days, I have not been able to attach picture files into Mattermost. There is a message in red saying , " unable to attach file". I currently have Desktop windows version of Mattermost v5.1.1 installed.
Is there a fix for this? Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Hi Johnny,
this is usually a problem or permission issue with the server. Can you reproduce this problem when using the web client or does it work there and just not on the desktop client? Are you also responsible for the server you’re having a problem with or are you just a user on some server where someone else is responsible for?

I am a user on Mattermost. I will ask my sys admin to restart the Mattermost server. thx!
