# Password cannot be reset

Unfortunately, I have entered my password incorrectly too often and would now have to reset or change my password. Unfortunately, I cannot send the mail although I know 100% that this is the correct mail address.

Hi @izzy.mau and welcome to the Mattermost forums!

Are you the admin of this system or just a user? If you‘re the admin, please check the SMTP settlngs in your Mattermost server‘s system console, most likely your system is not able to send mails at all. Please also check your `mattermost.log` file since it may contain additional relevant information.

If you‘re the user: please get in touch with your admin and if this is a mattermost cloud offering, please contact the official support.
