hi everyone i posted a question about a notification showing that i have unread messages when everything is working fine. It happens on the web and windows app. I have the latest software. I’ve posted the question [HERE](https://forum.mattermost.com/t/unread-message-showing-but-everything-is-read/16099) but noone’s answered so i’m not sure anyone’s seen it. There have been a few views. Any help would be appreciated.

We have a few related tickets:

- [[MM-49561] - Mattermost](https://mattermost.atlassian.net/browse/MM-49561) (not fixed yet)
- [[MM-45802] - Mattermost](https://mattermost.atlassian.net/browse/MM-45802) (fixed for upcoming v8.0 release)

thanks for your response, I clicked both links. I’m not sure I’m understanding. Is this only going to get fixed in the next update?

The issue you described sounds very similar to one of the tickets that I linked. [[MM-45802] - Mattermost](https://mattermost.atlassian.net/browse/MM-45802) has been fixed and the fix is scheduled for the next server release v8.0.

While waiting for the next release, you can also try the workaround mentioned here to see if it fixes the issue for you temporarily: [Unread thread when none exists · Issue #22060 · mattermost/mattermost · GitHub](https://github.com/mattermost/mattermost/issues/22060#issuecomment-1520127079).
