# Upgrading the mattermost server

Hello, I want to upgrade my mattermost server 7.8.12 which is hosted on our server using docker to the latest version. I am afraid to lose the data that we currently have on our mattermost channels, boards and playbooks.

Can anyone help me with the step by step guide to upgrade to the most recent stable version of server?
