We are continuously innovating and designing solutions to help our customers stay ahead. Recently we shared several new capabilities we’re exploring that we’d like to recap for those who may have missed them: Automated Incident Mitigation, OmniSearch, and the Responsible Message Interoperability Framework (RMIF).
NOTE: These demos are all conceptual in nature and are not yet implemented in Mattermost. We’re looking to gather interest from our customers to determine if they should be in our roadmap.
Automated Incident Mitigation
Empower your security team with smarter, faster incident response.
Securing critical infrastructure is an ongoing process involving alerting, analysis, escalations, and resolutions. By equipping incident responders with more flexible templates and powerful automation, we aim to eliminate slow, error-prone manual actions and empower security professionals to manage their incidents with ease and efficiency.
In this conceptual demo, we share some explorations in Playbooks that leverage custom properties in association with actions to enable powerful, automated workflows for incident response.
Highlights:
- Flexible templates for various incident types
- Powerful automation to reduce manual tasks
- Custom properties linked to actions for tailored workflows

OmniSearch
Find what you need across data sources without leaving Mattermost
We’re working on a concept for a new search function that can find and integrate data from different environments or data sources in real time without leaving the Mattermost platform. We’re tentatively calling this ‘OmniSearch’.
In this quick conceptual demo, you’ll see how OmniSearch can search connected Microsoft 365 Enterprise IT environments across SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange and Microsoft Teams. The framework is designed to work with the Microsoft platform, as well as common DevSecOps infrastructure including GitHub, GitLab, Confluence, Jira and other systems.
Highlights:
- Real-time search across multiple data sources
- Integration with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, and Teams
- Expandable to DevSecOps tools like GitHub, GitLab, Confluence, and Jira

Responsible Messaging Interoperability Framework (RMIF)
Protect against data leakage and harmful content with smart content filtering security controls
We want to enable our customers to safely share information across organizations. Systems that have a higher security policy may need to share information with systems that have a lower security policy (or vice versa). To do this, customers may need to filter out potentially malicious or highly sensitive content in messages and file attachments.
That’s why we’ve been working on an early concept of a capability we’re calling the Responsible Messaging Interoperability Framework, or “RMIF”. It can scan messages and files moving from external integrations, webhooks, the Microsoft Teams integration, and more. It can then protect against file types or restricted string patterns, and take custom actions based on your policies.
The core functionality would be configurable by administrators with complete or partial filtering (Block All, Allow Lists, Block Lists, etc.) and optional replacement. Integration with 3rd party tools is on the roadmap as well.
Highlights:
- Scans messages and files from external sources
- Protects against potentially malicious content
- Customizable content policies and actions
