In the Mattermost Mobile App v2.45 (October 2026 release), Mattermost will stop supporting iOS v16. Users should update their iOS version to v17 or newer before the v2.45 release.
Why is iOS v16 being deprecated?
For the security and stability of our platform, we are updating the Microsoft Intune App SDK (IntuneMAM) dependency used by the mobile app. Recent IntuneMAM releases require a minimum of iOS 17. The app currently pins an older IntuneMAM version that remains compatible with iOS 16, specifically to avoid impacting users. That is no longer a position we want to hold: iOS 16 has reached the end of Apple’s support window, and staying on an outdated SDK means falling behind on security and stability fixes.
What does this mean for users on iOS 16?
Devices running iOS 16 or earlier will no longer receive new versions of the Mattermost Mobile App from the App Store. The currently installed version will keep working, but it will not receive further updates, including security fixes. Update to iOS 17 or newer to continue receiving app updates.
When does this take effect?
Mattermost Mobile App v2.45, releasing in October 2026 alongside Mattermost Server v12.0.
