What is changing?
In October 2026, the Mattermost mobile app will require your server to be running v10.11 or later. If your server is on an earlier version, users won’t be able to sign in from the mobile app, and anyone already signed in will be signed out.
Server v10.11 reaches End of Support on August 15, 2026, as originally scheduled — that date isn’t changing. The mobile app requirement is a separate change that takes effect in October 2026, so you have time to plan your upgrade.
Why does the mobile app have a minimum server version?
We want to be clear about which server versions the mobile app is actually tested against, so you know what to expect from the combination you’re running. Previously the app would run against very old servers, which meant it could appear to work while behaving in ways we hadn’t verified.
Publishing a minimum version gives you a dependable compatibility guarantee, and lets us keep improving the app without carrying support for releases that are years past End of Support.
How is the minimum version chosen?
The minimum tracks the most recent Extended Support Release (ESR) to reach End of Support.
In practice, the mobile app supports every ESR that’s still supported, plus the most recently retired one. That gives you roughly an extra year past End of Support before the mobile app is affected — and because the minimum only moves when an ESR retires, you can plan for it well in advance.
What are the dates?

If you upgrade to v10.11, your mobile users will keep access until the v11.7 requirement takes effect in 2027.
What should I do?
- Check which server version your deployment is running.
- If you’re on anything earlier than v10.11, plan to upgrade before October 2026.
- If you’d rather upgrade once and be set past 2027, go straight to v11.7 or later.
If you’re still using MySQL
Mattermost doesn’t support MySQL beyond v10.11, so moving past that version means migrating to PostgreSQL first. Since the mobile minimum moves to v11.7 in 2027, we’d encourage you to start scoping that migration now rather than close to the deadline — it’s the longest part of the upgrade for most deployments.
