About Mattermost’s limitations/orientations

In recent months, much has been written about the future of Mattermost (which remains a fabulous piece of software, that’s not the issue).

As the developer of the MostlyMatter fork/patch (publicly known by the Mattermost team), Framasoft — which is a small French non-profit organization, but one that maintains a large Mattermost instance — has been directly contacted by various organizations that want to take things further. For example, by integrating SSO.

This is beyond Framasoft’s capabilities (we already have many other projects on the go) and our skills (we have no expertise in Go).

However, we thought it might be interesting for people who want to go further than MostlyMatter, those who are able to contribute financially, and those who are able to develop, to be able to exchange ideas freely.

That is why we have created this topic: Mattermost's future: who wants to fund/develop a fork? - Améliorons ensemble les outils Framasoft - Framacolibri

Framasoft’s role here is limited to providing a meeting and discussion space that is as neutral as possible, in order to avoid heated exchanges and to ensure that people working for Mattermost are not targeted (the decisions and directions of the Mattermost company are its own business).
