Is there an easy way to have occasional private discussions with customers and prospects on project issues?

I have just come across Mattermost. The focus appears to be communication within the team but we also want to facilitate communication between our team and their customers. There are many customers but the discussions with most customers will be short and infrequent.

Does Mattermost support this use case directly or through an integration, or is there a better solution?
