Mattermost Playbooks empower technical operators to streamline workflows and maintain transparency. In keeping with this objective, we’re exploring Exportable Incident Audit Reports to enhance process modernization.
Exportable reports empower teams to document incident responses efficiently with:
- Transparent records for compliance required by company policy
- Stakeholder reporting for clear upward communication
- Streamlined communication to facilitates retrospectives
- Customizable auto-generated reports
Here’s an early preview of how we’re thinking about this capability right now.
Exporting an incident
Imagine your team just resolved a security incident related to a phishing attack, and based on your company policies they required to generate a summary report for management visibility and record keeping.
You can easily go to the Run sidebar, and choose to export the incident report.
Customizing your report
You are given the option to choose what elements to include in the generated report, ranging from an Executive Summary to a Complete chat history.
Generated report
Once you click the export option, a PDF is exported and downloaded. In the PDF you can see a comprehensive report of all of the elements of the incident you selected, starting from a cover page and a table of contents to easily jump to specific details.
Furthermore, you can see an executive summary of all the high-level details about the incident such as start date, end date, severity, owner, channel, and more.
We can see all the status updates that occurred throughout the incident and a complete historical timeline of all actions that took place over time.
We also see the retrospective that was filled out along with a complete task outline which shows the state of all checklist items, when each one was checked, and by whom.
Additionally, an AI-generated Chat Summary is created to summarize conversations that took place during the incident along with a complete log of the chat if desired.
