Hi, I’m going to host Mattermost on my lab’s server to replace Slack, and have some questions.
According to the pricing page, there’s no difference between the cloud and the self-hosted edition. Then
self-hosted Team Edition also has file storage limits(10GB)?
And is there maximum message limits in Team Edition? or basically I can send an unlimited number of messages? On the pricing page, there’s only info about message history which is the last 10,000 messages.

there’s no storage limitation on the self hosted teams edition, because you pay for the storage. For the cloud hosted offering, Mattermost is providing the service and the storage and since this is a free offering, they cannot give you an unlimited amount of storage on the free tier.
The information regarding the message history is contradicting in the documentation, because at one point it says that the message history is umlimited in Cloud Starter and on the pricing page they talk about a limit of 10k messages. Not sure what holds true here, I’ve asked the team about that, but for the self hosted version, these two limits do not apply to you, since you control the resources of the instance.

So as I expected, the storage and message limit only stands for the Cloud Starter plan, not the self-hosted.
