For troubleshooting questions, please post in the following format:
Summary
Users are upgrading their MacBooks to the latest 15.4.1 and we are deploying Mattermost through our MDM over the old non-App store installation. After reboot, some users mattermost fails to see server. Does not pop up in local network security to enable local network access.
Steps to reproduce
How can we reproduce the issue (what version are you using?)
Install/Push Mattermost App from Mac AppStore to laptop. Update to latest 15.4.1 MacOS, reboot. Users get “Couldn’t connect to this server” message with the error "ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED (-105) loading ‘https://mattermost.<redacted>.local’
Expected behavior
Mattermost to contact server and load
Observed behavior
What did you see happen? Please include relevant error messages and/or screenshots.
Yes, I can also browse to mattermost.<redacted>.local in the browser.
We are using a self-hosted Professional install. Users with non-Mac AppStore version of the app do not have this issue. Some users of the Mac AppStore version of the app (v5.11.2) have this issue. Sometimes when this happens I can go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network and enable the local network permission for the end users Mattermost.app or Mattermost Helper App and everything will load from there. Other times, this permission does not popup despite being on MacOS Sequoia.
It turns out there’s an issue we’re working with Apple that affected push notifications, and I suspect might be involved here as well. https://status.mattermost.com/ will reflect when that’s resolved.
I’ll ask around and see if anyone has any other ideas.
I appreciate it. I also opened a ticket. Do you know how long the Apple push notification has been an issue? Because I had issues with my MDM starting May 3rd where I couldn’t push VPP apps and my MDM had to resolve the issue as well. I suspect it was also related to push notifications.
