Correct way of downgrade

Hi there,

we have been using Mattermost for a long time. Initially we chase team edition, and I always updated the versions. I always used 9.11 branch.

A few months ago once I downloaded accidentally the commercial edition, so we used that without license. We realized that recently and now I wanted to upgrade to 10.x branch, but to the team edition. There we realized that the group call feature was removed in 10.x team edition, so I went to 9.11.18 team edition - then the surprise came: all groups disappeared…

Now I use 10.11.2 without group call, but we would like to go back to 9.11 with groups.

Is it possible to do that?

The group call feature was only included in the commercial edition you installed by accident. When you moved back to the Team Edition (9.x or 10.x), group calls were removed because they aren’t part of Team Edition.

To bring them back, you have two choices:

  1. Switch to the commercial edition with a license.

  2. Stay on Team Edition and integrate an external call tool like Jitsi or Zoom.

I recommend you decide whether group calls are essential so that you can proceed with the best option.

many thanks for your help. Honestly, I was sure that we use the team edition, but.. that’s it.

Anyway: is there any chance to go back to 9.11 commercial edition?
