Expose a filesystem directory accessible through Mattermost?

I have a user who would rather use (s)ftp to transfer large-ish project files than upload them through mattermost (I don’t really see the difference but it was requested).

Is there a way to make files uploaded to some directory on the filesystem accessible through mattermost?

In an ideal world, an administrator could see these files and create links to them in existing channels/groups.

That sounds like an interesting idea, but the only way to upload files is to go through the api right now.

If you’d like to open a feature request for something more powerful, you can do so here. That way we’ll be able to get community feedback and plan accordingly.
