Granular Permissions Coming Soon to Team Edition

We are excited to announce that we will be moving the System Permissions Scheme from our Advanced Permissions feature into our open source Team Edition with the 6.0 release on September 15.

Our user community has asked for more granular control over what users can do within channels and teams, and we acknowledge how this feature supports use cases both for small teams and large organizations. With the System Permission Scheme added to Team Edition, an admin can customize which users can perform specific actions, such as creating teams, managing channels, and configuring webhooks. The Mattermost permission system is based on a modified RBAC (role-based access control) architecture, using roles to determine which users have the ability to perform various actions.

Please note that Team Override Schemes, Channel Moderation, and Supplementary Roles will currently remain in the Enterprise E20 Edition as they are considered access control policies.
