Weird font in use by MM desktop

Summary

My MM desktop app uses special font on specific text areas.
I don’t think this is a bug as I didn’t find any bug report on the net that points this problem out.
It better looks like a font misconfiguration, but I don’t have such a customized system (I’ve never changed fonts settings).

Environment

  • Operating System: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
  • Mattermost Desktop App version: 4.6.1
  • Mattermost Server version: 5.27.0 and 5.30.6
  • Installed with Snapcraft

Steps to reproduce

Just use the app (screenshots follow)

Following is an ugly workaround…

I don’t know why but the issue has been resolved by itself.

Things that might have influenced:

  • recent upgrade of the 5.27.0 MM server to 5.30.6 (like the other one…)
  • last regular system upgrades (but no upgrade of MM desktop I believe)

I don’t think it can help anybody else…

I reopen this topic because yesterday I upgraded my MM desktop app to 4.6.2 and today I have the exactly same font related problems.

Has anyone faced and resolved this issue in the past?

Can you confirm which OS are you running on? I’ll ask the desktop app team if it can be reproducible on their end easily.

Any other users facing this issue? I believe it is not reproducible on the web browser?

Thank you for investigating this. I am sorry to disturb but it turns out that this issue has one more time been fixed silently. This time, the only change I made is to shutdown my computer (I’ve just started it this morning).

Next time it happens I will try to immediately reboot my computer and see if it works.

Just in case I post here the details of my environment (and yes everything has always been fine on web browser)
