Good morning , is there anyway to enable to display how many unread messages each channel has like in direct messages, becouse now, it only highlights the name of the channel that has unread messages .
Hi Fabio! While Mattermost highlights channels with unread messages by bolding the name, it doesn’t currently show the exact number of unread messages like in DMs - but you can upvote this feature idea or explore similar suggestions on our Mattermost UserVoice forum: General: Hot (1225 ideas) – Mattermost Feature Proposal Forum
I’ve noticed the same issue on our company’s self-hosted instance (v9.5)..sometimes channels are marked as unread even after I’ve viewed all the messages, especially if I’ve switched devices (mobile to desktop, or vice versa).
One thing that helped a bit was adjusting the “mark as read” behavior in Account Settings > Notifications > Desktop Notifications, but it’s definitely not perfect. I still occasionally get the bolded channel name even though there’s nothing new inside.
Also worth noting: we have some bots posting updates (via incoming webhooks), and in a few cases, it seems like those messages don’t consistently register as “read” unless someone manually clicks into the channel..not sure if that’s intended behavior or a sync issue.
Curious if anyone’s tried this on the latest Cloud release..wondering if the experience is smoother there. We’ve been debating a move to cloud hosting mainly for stuff like this.
@NicoleSanders14 it’s worth mentioning that 9.5 is EOL. You should get to 10.5.
