Good morning, I’m new to the community but I’ve been administering a Mattermost server for quite some time. I’m experiencing an issue that occurs across the web interface, the mobile apps (both Android and iPhone), and the desktop clients (Windows and Linux).
The problem happens when trying to send a 4K video in a conversation. It doesn’t allow me to attach the file and shows a red error message saying: “There was a problem uploading your files.”
I’ve run several tests and have concluded that the issue is not related to the video codec, but rather the resolution in which the video was recorded. I’ve recorded multiple videos in 1080p using codecs such as H.264, H.265, HEVC, and MP4. All of these videos can be sent without any issues.
The problem arises specifically when the video is recorded in 4K, regardless of the codec used—it always throws the same error.
I’ve searched through the documentation and forums, but I haven’t found any mention of video resolution as a potential cause, only discussions about file formats.
I almost forgot—if you think the issue might be related to the file size, I should mention that the videos I tested are all under 100 MB. In any case, my server is configured to allow large files, so that shouldn’t be the cause either.
Could you please help me with this or provide some guidance on whether this can be fixed, or if it’s a known issue that may be resolved in a future update? Thank you very much, and apologies if I didn’t tag this message correctly.
