I followed this procedure to build Mattermost on AWS.
We are using EKS and RDS for PostgreSQL.
I have looked at several sites discussing Japanese search, but I am not sure how to best enable Japanese search in Mattermost, which I have built this time using
Kubernetes.
If anyone knows how to do this, please let me know.
Will searching with Blave work in a Kubanetes environment?
Also, is using Blave currently not recommended?
In my environment, I seemed to get an error when creating the index.
I am thinking of purchasing a paid license for
because I think it is important to be able to search in Japanese.
I apologize for asking so many questions, but thank you in advance.
I’m pretty sure support for bleve is being deprecated. Having an Enterprise license does allow you to use Elasticsearch, but I’m not aware of that being a requirement to search in Japanese, and if you’re just standing up your Mattermost, the database search should work perfectly well.
Glad to hear you have deployed Mattermost on a K8S (EKS) environment. As John said the bleve search is going to be deprecated. Mattermost paid editions have many great features top of supporting the Elasticsearch. Could you give me a chance to explain the benefit of paid editions? I am a Japanese speaker, I will explain them in Japanese.
I read somewhere that Mattermost uses default_text_search_config to do the search.
This default_text_search_config configuration is for Postgres DB and Mattermost follows this configuration. I mean the full text search is relying on the DB.
We have a good number of Japanese customers who are using Elasticsearch and it works well.
I’m thinking about purchasing the paid version of Mattermost, but I’d like to try out what I can do with the Team Edition first.
Completely understand you. Please let us know if you need any further information about Mattermost and Demo. I am happy to help you with your Mattermost trial.
