The Mattermost team forgot to add a screenshot that shows how a message from a Jira webhook looks like. This is important to me. If it looks like shit there is no reason for me to upgrade.
Can someone post a picture what it looks like, please?

While this thread is a year old, can I confirm if the screen shot provided in the Mattermost: JIRA Plugin is sufficient to show you how the message looks like?
On the other hand, you can also consider the following addon if you are running on JIRA Server - Mattermost Connector for Jira. Let me know if that helps.
