[Solved] Unclear what issues are Solved vs. Open in forums

Expected:

  • Easily see from titles what issues are solved vs open in forums. There is a built-in function to do this but we’re not using it:

  • Also expect Mattermost staff answering issues to click the button, and potentially edit the title to pre-fix “[Solved]” to make it even easier to see. Example: [Solved] Poor UX in Compass Design System

Observed:

  • Very difficult to tell in most posts, until we read to the end.

@jasonblais I’m wondering if this is something John might be able to help with?

Actually, @matthewbirtch we should make you and your team moderators of Potential Broken Windows category and maybe have you can mark issues as solved?

@pavelzeman @sven.huester similarly for the Trouble Shooting forum, maybe we could have someone from support on rotation reviewing answers and marking the official solutions.

I’m not sure if community is doing it on their own, or if someone from Mattermost is doing it right now.

@it33_mattermost We encourage community to do it on their own, but in the event that they don’t I mark them as solved during my routine forum sweeps. Happy to help take care of this here in the Potential Broken Windows category as well, but if @matthewbirtch gets to it first - the help is always appreciated!

The current process is as follows:

  1. Anyone can check the “Solution” box on a reply that successfully answers a thread.
  2. We then encourage the original poster to update the thread title with the “[Solved]” prefix.
  3. During my moderation sweeps, I affix the proper “Solved” markers on any threads that I see have a valid solution since my last sweep.

@john.combs I don’t seem to have access to mark solutions on posts. I don’t see the ‘solution’ button

Great catch, @matthewbirtch! I just tweaked some settings, and I think you should be all good to go now.
