Trouble finding documentation for installation

Here is the situation:

  • GitLab server on debian jessie. Updated to 8.2, running fine for about 2 years now.
  • Mattermost test installation using the v1.2.1 .tar.gz from the download page

Using the Mattermost System Console and following the instructions there i managed to “Enable Sign Up With GitLab”. Works fine.

This however doesn’t seem to do more than handle exactely that.

So what do i need to do to get the cool stuff working?
