Bot Message Attachments Not Displaying in Mobile App (iOS & Android)

  • Mattermost Mobile App Version: v2.23.1
  • Device: iPhone 16 Pro and Android devices
  • OS & Version: iOS and Android (multiple devices)
  • Server Version: 10.3.1

Issue Description:
We are experiencing an issue where bot message attachments are not displaying in the mobile app, while they appear correctly in the web interface. This issue is occurring on both iOS and Android platforms.

Specific Behavior:

  • Bot message attachments are not visible in the mobile app
  • Same messages display correctly in web browser
  • Frequency: Almost always
  • Issue started: Around November 2024
  • Issue occurs consistently across different mobile platforms (iOS and Android)

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Receive a bot message with attachment
  2. Check the message in mobile app
  3. Compare with web interface display

Expected Behavior:
Bot message attachments should be visible in the mobile app, matching the web interface display.

Additional Information:

  • The issue appears to be platform-independent as it occurs on both iOS and Android devices
  • The web interface continues to display attachments correctly, suggesting this is specifically a mobile app issue

I have confirmed that this issue occurs with all bot messages, not just specific ones. The problem persists even after updating to the latest mobile app version (v2.23.1). The attachments are consistently not displaying in the mobile app while they appear correctly in the web interface.

To provide more context:

  • All bot messages are affected, regardless of the bot type
  • Issue remains consistent after ensuring we’re on the latest mobile app version
  • Web interface continues to display attachments normally
