GIPHY Integration not working in version 11.6.1?

Hello all,

I noticed that the the GIF picker (powered by Giphy) shows “Error loading GIFs. Try again?”

I am running Team edition 11.6.1. Anyone has any ideas as to what the problem may be?

@marianunez pinging you since this resembles an older issue, could it be a regression? I just updated to 11.6.2 and still face the same problem.

@daydr3am3r can you share more details on when it stopped working ? Was it after a specific upgrade ?

Do you see any errors in the console logs or if you have access to the server logs ?

@marianunez unfortunately the feature is used infrequently, so I cannot pinpoint the exact version it stopped working.

I also see no errors in the “Server Logs” section related to this functionality. I also tried toggling the GIF picker, but that didn’t help.

Update: I updated the server to version 11.7.0, the issue still persists.

Yet another update:

I added my own Giphy API key via the MM_SERVICESETTINGS_GIPHYSDKKEY variable in the .env file and added the variable to docker-compose.yml. This fixed the issue.

@marianunez can you check internally if the Mattermost API key for Giphy is still valid?
