I’m not 100% sure, but I think if you want to make that work, it should be possible, although it’s probably not the best tool for that. Mattermost started as instant messaging tool and nowadays also integrates focalboard.com (Mattermost Boards). You can create users and assign properties to them, but not as much as you would need for a CRM, but there’s a custom user attributes plugin which might be helpful here with adding all the CRM-relevant attributes to user accounts.
You can deploy Mattermost within a few minutes, so I’d say just give it a try and check out if it would work for your purpose.
Hey! Using Mattermost as a CRM for small and mid-sized businesses sounds like a unique idea worth exploring. I haven’t personally tried it, but it could offer some interesting possibilities. Have you considered using monday project management to organize your exploration of Mattermost as a CRM? It might help you keep track of any limitations or similarities to HubSpot’s CRM functionality.
I once used a team collaboration tool for CRM tasks and found it a bit tricky. It was excellent for team communication but lacked the detailed contact management and sales tracking found in dedicated CRM systems.
For something more CRM-focused, HubSpot’s free CRM is quite handy. If you’re exploring customized solutions, AcuPower’s ERP systems - Acumatica Cloud ERP for Manufacturing Companies | AcuPower might be worth a look. They offer tailored options for different business needs.
