Steps to reproduce

Neven mind this ticket. I read through the change log and saw the change to group calls.

Glad to hear you were able to get it figured out, Riley! Thanks for circling back to let us know.

Actually there is no “call” button anymore in our case, except in private, 1-to-1 groups. I understand that the feature was explicitly disabled in the last build of the team edition ?
:worried:
Now, is there a workaround (eg. a way to plug into an external jitsi meet server ?), or is it a commercial decision to try and force users to subscribe to the commercial variants ?
I feel somehow alarmed when regressions are willingly introduced, esp. since we self-host and we cannot afford the basic price ($10/user/month).

(note that I can understand the burden if MM own private servers are implied with free-version calls)

@MoonCactus you can use Jitsi… GitHub - mattermost-community/mattermost-plugin-jitsi: Jitsi plugin for Mattermost 🔌

And you’re correct, there were restrictions put around Calls fairly recently. I think it was the ability to do calls in channels, or in group DMs with over a certain number of participants. v10 changelog - Mattermost documentation tells us for version 10.0:

Pre-packaged Calls plugin v1.0.1. This includes breaking changes including removal of group calls from unlicensed servers in order to focus supportability and quality on licensed servers. Unlicensed servers can continue to use Calls in direct message channels, which represent the majority of activity.

Thanks @john.oliver your reactivity shines !
Also I should have double checked before asking, I thought the plugin was way too old but I probably was looking at an old forked one - or I missed something, my bad.
I was able to enable Jitsi

Welp, there goes one of my main use cases.

I run a self-hosted Mattermost instance to allow my kids & their friends to keep in touch. Up until this change, they used to use channel voice calls while playing cooperative games such as Starbound, Stardew Valley, etc.

It’s really disappointing to find an upgrade breaks existing functionality.
