Inconsistent UX in bookmarks bar experience

Expected:

  • Bookmarks bar supports non-technical end users who don’t yet know how to use markdown, and results in clear and concise link titles, ideally with emoji-based icon for increased usability.

Observed:

  • Bookmarks Bar only has “Add Link” with no help text or instructions on how to provide a label to shorten URL, nor add an emoji pre-fix for enhanced UX, or a tooltip for more context

Update: I can now see this progressive UX adding title and emoji after link is posted.

What seems broken here is that the text for “Title” is just the URL, it’s not trying to pull the meta data from the URL for title, as most Bookmark Bars would.

The result is more Bookmark Bar links that are just big URLs that are overflowing, hard to understand, and bloat the UX
